Libya’s second deputy parliament speaker, Misbah Doma, has voiced deep concern over the continued presence of foreign forces on Libyan soil. He stressed that Libya’s security cannot be built while foreign troops remain in the country.
In a statement released by parliament spokesperson Abdullah Bliheg, Doma highlighted that foreign military presence persists despite recent political changes and ongoing efforts to achieve national stability. He underscored that national sovereignty was not up for negotiation and insisted that Libya’s stability required a unified government capable of overseeing both presidential and parliamentary elections.
Doma argued that Libya’s external relations should rest on cooperation, mutual interests, and full respect for sovereignty. He welcomed political and economic partnerships with countries ready to engage in transparent legal frameworks that serve Libyan citizens. Such cooperation, he said, should extend to trade, investment, infrastructure, and education.
The deputy speaker firmly rejected any foreign military deployment, under any name or justification, as national voices increasingly call for their withdrawal. He warned that military intervention had previously fuelled internal conflict, opened the door to competing regional interference, and prolonged the crisis rather than resolving it.
Doma urged the UN Security Council, Libyan political actors, and the 5+5 Joint Military Commission to take concrete steps to end the presence of foreign forces. He emphasised that balanced and responsible foreign relations were key to safeguarding Libya’s independence and security.
The statement reflects mounting frustration among Libyan leaders who view foreign involvement as a major obstacle to reconciliation and sovereignty.
