The French Embassy in Libya has bid farewell to Ambassador Mostafa Mihraje, who concluded his three-year diplomatic mission in the country.
In a farewell message posted on its official account on Platform X, the French Embassy expressed its deep appreciation for Ambassador Mihraje’s “dedicated efforts throughout his tenure to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between France and Libya.”
Ambassador Mihraje, who took office in 2022, was widely recognized for his proactive role in supporting development initiatives and deepening bilateral ties, particularly in the areas of diplomacy, technical cooperation, and institution-building.
Last week, the Libyan office of Expertise France — the French public agency for international technical cooperation — held a special reception in honor of the ambassador, celebrating the conclusion of his mission. During the event, the team praised Mihraje as a “model of constructive engagement and a staunch supporter of technical cooperation contributing to Libya’s development goals.”
The farewell gathering was attended by representatives from both government and private sectors, who extended their sincere gratitude for the ambassador’s “outstanding contributions and tireless support.” Many attendees highlighted his role in fostering mutual understanding and building lasting partnerships between French and Libyan institutions.
Diplomatic observers note that Mihraje’s departure marks the end of a chapter in Franco-Libyan relations that saw renewed momentum in development programs, civil society support, and institutional collaboration. His successor has yet to be announced.
