Libya participated on Tuesday in the 164th regular session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of permanent delegates, held at the League’s headquarters in Cairo.
The Libyan delegation was led by Ambassador Abdelmuttalib Thabet, Libya’s Permanent Representative to the Arab League, who is also currently overseeing the work of the Libyan Embassy in Egypt.
The meeting addressed a wide range of pressing issues on the agenda, including current Arab political affairs, regional and international developments, and key files related to economic, social, and security cooperation. Delegates also reviewed the implementation of previous resolutions issued by the Council.
In his remarks, Ambassador Thabet reaffirmed Libya’s firm position in support of strengthening Arab solidarity and joint action, stressing the importance of unity in facing challenges and protecting the interests of Arab states and peoples.
He further reiterated Libya’s commitment to maintaining an active role within the Arab League and supporting all initiatives aimed at achieving security, stability, and sustainable development across the region.
The recommendations from the meeting of permanent delegates will be submitted to the Arab Foreign Ministers’ Council during its 164th session for further discussion and adoption at the ministerial level.
