Ibrahim Al-Dabbashi, a former Libyan Permanent Representative to the UN, said that, whoever is appointed as UN envoy for Libya after Ghassan Salame, will fail.

He explained that the UN mission in Libya did not seek to meet the needs of the representatives of the Libyan people, but, instead, it only communicated with some figures that topped the current political scene by accident.
He went on to say that the Libyan situation will only be changed after the UN changes its policy not its envoys.

The former diplomat added that the United States does not want any of its nationals to be appointed as a new UN envoy to Libya in order to evade dealing with the complicated Libyan file.
