Tunisian Prime Minister Sara Zaafrani has reaffirmed her country’s firm stance on the Libyan crisis, insisting that the path to stability must come from Libyans themselves and not from outside powers.

Speaking during a joint press conference with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly in Cairo, Zaafrani said Tunisia’s position has always been one of solidarity with Libya and respect for its sovereignty. “The solution in Libya must be a purely Libyan solution, reached through dialogue among Libyans themselves, without foreign interference under any pretext,” she declared.

She added that Tunisia believes in the right of nations to decide their own political paths without external influence, saying: “Tunisia believes peoples must act according to their own choices and their full sovereignty, without imposed agendas or foreign dictates.”

Zaafrani stressed that Tunisia will continue to support every initiative that strengthens Libya’s unity and stability, preserves its territorial integrity, and advances the aspirations of the Libyan people for peace, development, and security.

Her comments come as Libya remains divided between rival governments and institutions, with international actors often accused of fueling instability by pursuing their own agendas. Tunisia, sharing a long border with Libya, has consistently positioned itself as a neutral neighbor advocating for dialogue and reconciliation rather than externally imposed solutions.
