Libya is preparing to host one of the most significant energy gatherings in years, with the Libya-Africa International Gas Forum 2025 (LAIGF 2025) scheduled for 6–7 December in Tripoli.

The event will bring together ministers of oil, gas, and energy from across the continent, alongside leaders of national oil companies, the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), African gas producers, global investors, and technology innovators. The aim is to foster strategic dialogue on Africa’s role in global energy security and the future of natural gas as a transition fuel.

Backed officially by Libya’s Ministry of Oil and Gas, the National Oil Corporation (NOC), and the GECF, the forum will also feature a strategic partnership with S&P Global Commodity Insights and be organised by IN-VR.

The gathering will be held at the Rixos Al Nasr International Conference Centre in Tripoli. According to organisers, the event will serve as Africa’s only official gas-focused platform, positioning Libya at the centre of discussions on the continent’s energy potential and its connection to Europe’s long-term energy needs.

By convening global investors and decision-makers, the LAIGF 2025 aims to highlight Africa’s capacity to expand natural gas production, promote cross-border cooperation, and drive investment into sustainable energy infrastructure.

Industry experts say the timing is crucial, as Europe intensifies efforts to diversify energy sources and African producers seek greater integration into global markets. For Libya, hosting the event underscores its ambition to reclaim a leading role in regional energy diplomacy and showcase opportunities for foreign investment in its gas sector.
