The Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy in Libya announced on Saturday the successful completion of 148 infrastructure projects aimed at upgrading the national power grid.

The projects were carried out between August 24 and October 3, with full support from the Libya Development and Reconstruction Fund, and in coordination with the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL).

According to the ministry’s statement, the completed projects included expansions and upgrades to medium-voltage and distribution networks, maintenance of transmission lines and substations, and the reactivation of long-idle power generation units. These improvements have significantly enhanced the efficiency and reliability of the country’s electrical grid.

One of the key achievements highlighted was the complete stabilization of the power network in eastern Libya, where authorities report no outages or load shedding since the ministry assumed responsibility for the sector in that region. The ministry emphasized that this success reflects effective cooperation between the public utility, national institutions, and local contractors.

The work was executed by a group of specialized national firms under the ministry’s supervision, including the National Energy Projects Company, National Electrical Works Company, National Company for Construction and Consulting, and the National Distribution Projects Company.

The ministry affirmed its commitment to continuing development efforts across all regions of Libya and called this achievement a milestone in restoring public services and rebuilding confidence in state infrastructure.
