The Chairman of Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC), Masoud Suleiman, met with British Ambassador to Libya, Martin Longden, to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the NOC and British companies operating in the oil and gas sectors.

According to a statement by Suleiman on Facebook, the meeting focused on “enhancing international partnerships and the importance of cooperation with the United Kingdom in supporting the NOC’s efforts to achieve its strategic goals and ensure production sustainability.”

Ambassador Longden expressed his “appreciation for the pivotal role played by the National Oil Corporation,” reaffirming the UK’s readiness to continue “cooperation, expand partnership opportunities, and support capacity-building programmes within the sector.”

The discussions highlight the growing importance of British engagement in Libya’s energy industry, especially as the NOC seeks to maintain output levels and attract foreign investment to revitalise infrastructure. Both sides emphasised the need for sustainable collaboration to stabilise the Libyan oil sector and enhance its contribution to the country’s economy.

The meeting underscores the strategic alignment between Libya’s energy priorities and the UK’s interest in fostering long-term partnerships in production, technology, and workforce development — key areas for boosting efficiency and resilience across Libya’s oil and gas operations.
