The Zueitina Oil Company announced that it has successfully contained a minor oil leak along the 16-inch shipping line connecting the Sabah and Zelten oil fields, following direct instructions from the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Masoud Suleiman.
According to a statement released by the company, technical teams were immediately dispatched to the affected site and carried out emergency repairs under the company’s contingency plan. The leak was swiftly brought under control, and there were no recorded environmental impacts or damage to nearby agricultural areas.
The company confirmed that oil flow is now being gradually restored to the field after the completion of maintenance operations. Technical teams remain on-site to monitor the pipeline’s integrity and ensure the continued safety of transport operations.
Zueitina Oil Company highlighted that its response reflects the NOC’s commitment to safety and environmental protection, as well as its readiness to handle emergency situations effectively. The company also reaffirmed its dedication to maintaining operational stability across all its production and transportation facilities.
The National Oil Corporation, which oversees Libya’s energy sector, has been working with its affiliated companies to upgrade ageing infrastructure and prevent pipeline leaks that could disrupt production or pose environmental risks.
