Libya and Turkey held new high-level talks on Monday aimed at strengthening cooperation in the oil, gas, and energy sectors, underscoring both countries’ commitment to advancing joint projects and deepening strategic ties in the field of energy.
The meeting took place in Tripoli between Libya’s Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdul-Sadiq, and Turkey’s Ambassador to Libya, Güven Begeç, along with members of the Turkish Embassy team.
According to a statement released by the Libyan Ministry of Oil and Gas, the talks focused on ways to enhance bilateral cooperation, expand joint ventures, and encourage investment opportunities between Libya and Turkey in oil exploration, refining, natural gas, and renewable energy.
Both sides emphasized the importance of continuous coordination between the two governments and relevant institutions to ensure the effective implementation of cooperation frameworks that serve shared interests and support Libya’s efforts to modernize and diversify its energy sector.
Minister Abdul-Sadiq highlighted Libya’s commitment to developing its oil and gas production capacity and to attracting technological and investment expertise from strategic partners like Turkey. He noted that the ministry is working to improve transparency and efficiency across the energy sector to encourage long-term international partnerships.
For his part, Ambassador Begeç reiterated Turkey’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with Libya’s Ministry of Oil and Gas, praising Libya’s vital role as a key energy producer in the Mediterranean. He affirmed that Turkish companies are eager to expand their operations in Libya, particularly in infrastructure, energy services, and the oilfield technology sector.
The meeting forms part of a broader dialogue between Tripoli and Ankara to bolster economic cooperation and coordinate on regional energy initiatives. Both parties agreed to maintain an open channel of communication to ensure follow-up on joint projects and align their future goals in line with regional energy developments.
