Libyan House of Representatives member Saeed Emgheeb accused the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), led by Hanna Serwaa Tetteh, of orchestrating what he called a “malicious, systematic conspiracy” aimed at destroying the national project championed by the Libyan National Army (LNA) and its leadership.
Emgheeb said the so-called “structured dialogue” promoted by the UN mission is nothing but a preparatory step to destabilise the stability achieved in Barqa (Cyrenaica) and Fezzan after years of chaos, corruption, and division.
National Project Restored Dignity and Sovereignty
The MP stressed that the national project led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar restored Libya’s dignity, sovereignty, and borders while launching a broad reconstruction campaign after decades of neglect and marginalisation.
He noted that the progress made in infrastructure and public services in the eastern and southern regions over the past three years exceeds what had been achieved in the previous half-century. These achievements, he said, are the result of unprecedented security and stability provided by the Libyan National Army.
Libya at a Crossroads
According to Emgheeb, Libya now stands at a decisive crossroads: either the Libyan people hold firmly to their army and the gains achieved or risk losing them and falling back into a spiral of corruption, marginalisation, and terrorism.
He added that Libyans are now more aware than ever of the reality of what is happening, stressing that defending the national project has become a clear choice. “Nations are not built on slogans,” he said, “but by men who believe in them and pay the price for them.”
Barqa’s Rights Do Not Threaten National Unity
Responding to accusations that supporters of federalism or advocates for Barqa’s rights seek to divide the country, Emgheeb affirmed that demanding the region’s rights does not contradict Libya’s unity. Instead, it is a necessary step to restore fairness to an area that has made great sacrifices.
He said the people of Barqa are only seeking the rights long denied to them and a better future for their children—without undermining Libya’s unity or sovereignty.
Criticism of Dbaiba Government
Emgheeb also criticised the outgoing Government of National Unity (GNU) led by Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba, accusing it of overlooking militia control in Tripoli and squandering state resources.
“The current government steals every day in the name of a unified Libya,” he said, “while the region that produces oil and gas is deprived of its rights.”
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to reconstruction, defending the army and the general command, and rejecting any conspiracy or attempt to drag Libya back into chaos and conflict.
