Libya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Parliament-designate government announced that more than 30,000 Syrian nationals have benefited from services provided by the Syrian delegation in Benghazi, including passport renewals and the issuance of travel tickets for those wishing to return home.

The announcement came during a meeting held on Sunday at the Ministry’s headquarters in Benghazi, chaired by Minister Abdulhadi Al-Hwaij, who leads the government appointed by the Libyan Parliament. The meeting included senior directors overseeing the activities of the visiting Syrian delegation from the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the session, participants reviewed the operational mechanisms and coordination procedures of the Syrian delegation, focusing particularly on the renewal of passports and the facilitation of travel for Syrian citizens residing in Libya. According to the Ministry, these efforts have successfully enabled more than 30,000 Syrian men and women to regularise their travel documents and secure tickets for repatriation.

Minister Al-Hwaij emphasised that this cooperation reflects the Libyan government’s commitment to supporting the Syrian community and ensuring the protection of their rights and needs while residing in Libya. He also highlighted that the initiative underscores the longstanding historical and fraternal ties between the Libyan and Syrian peoples.

The Ministry reaffirmed its readiness to continue providing assistance to the Syrian community through coordination with the Syrian authorities, stressing that Libya remains a partner in facilitating humanitarian initiatives that contribute to stability and cooperation between the two nations.
