Libya and Belarus are moving to deepen their security cooperation and expand joint training initiatives as part of ongoing efforts to enhance professional capacity and regional stability.

Libya’s Minister of Interior in the government appointed by the House of Representatives, Issam Abu Zariba, received the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Belarus and his accompanying delegation in Benghazi, in the presence of senior security officials and department heads from the Libyan Interior Ministry.

According to the ministry’s Security Media Office, the visit aims to reinforce bilateral cooperation, review the implementation of existing partnership agreements, and explore new areas of coordination, particularly in training and the exchange of security expertise.

The Interior Ministry reiterated its commitment to building active partnerships with friendly nations to strengthen security capabilities and support stability across Libya.

This visit builds upon the growing cooperation between the two countries. On 20 September 2025, the Libyan and Belarusian Interior Ministries signed an agreement to enhance security collaboration and training exchange mechanisms. In July 2025, both sides also agreed to launch specialized police training programs for Libyan officers and explore the establishment of a Belarusian training center within Libya.

Officials from both nations emphasized the importance of this partnership in advancing joint efforts to combat crime, modernize security institutions, and promote regional peace and stability.
