Libya’s General Authority for Hajj and Umrah Affairs has officially launched registration for the Hajj lottery for the 1447 AH – 2026 pilgrimage season, marking the first step for Libyan citizens seeking to perform the Hajj next year.
The authority said registration is now open exclusively through the official electronic pilgrims’ platform, urging applicants to follow the approved procedures and instructions carefully. Officials stressed that no paper applications or alternative registration channels will be accepted, as the process is being handled entirely online to ensure transparency and equal access.
According to the authority, registration began on Monday, 15 December 2025, and will remain open until Monday, 5 January 2026. During this period, citizens wishing to enter the lottery must complete their personal details through the platform and regularly check for updates related to eligibility conditions and subsequent steps.
The General Authority for Hajj and Umrah Affairs highlighted the importance of monitoring the platform for announcements regarding the lottery draw, documentation requirements, and later stages of the process. These include medical checks, administrative procedures, and arrangements related to travel and accommodation, which are typically announced after the completion of the registration phase.
The annual Hajj lottery is used to manage demand fairly, as the number of Libyan pilgrims is subject to quotas determined in coordination with Saudi authorities. In previous seasons, the authority has emphasised that compliance with deadlines and accurate data entry are essential to avoid disqualification.
The launch of the registration process comes amid continued efforts by Libyan institutions to organise religious services despite broader administrative and logistical challenges. The authority reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating the pilgrimage in an orderly manner and providing equal opportunities for citizens across all regions of the country.
