The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed its deep condolences and solidarity with Libya following the fatal crash of a private aircraft in Turkey that claimed the lives of Libya’s Chief of the General Staff of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Mohammed Al Haddad, and several senior military officials.

In an official statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs conveyed its sincere sympathies to the families of the victims, as well as to the Libyan government and people, describing the incident as a profound tragedy.

The ministry affirmed the UAE’s support for Libya during this difficult time and extended its heartfelt condolences to all those affected by the loss.

The aircraft was traveling from Ankara to Tripoli when it lost contact with air traffic control after requesting an emergency landing near the Turkish capital.

Turkish authorities later confirmed that the plane had crashed, prompting the immediate deployment of emergency and search-and-rescue teams.

Wreckage was found near the area where communication with the aircraft had been lost.

Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbaiba announced that Lieutenant General Mohamed Al-Haddad, Chief of the General Staff, was among those killed in the crash, along with several accompanying military officials.

Turkish officials confirmed the recovery of the victims’ bodies and stated that the Ankara Public Prosecutor’s Office has opened a formal investigation to determine the cause of the accident.

The crash occurred shortly after the Libyan delegation concluded official meetings in Ankara with senior Turkish defense and military officials.
