Libya has been allocated 7,800 pilgrims for the Hajj season of 2026, according to Hatem Al-Lafi, spokesperson for the General Authority for Hajj and Umrah.

Al-Lafi said the number of applicants registered on Libya’s official Hajj system has exceeded one million, reflecting exceptionally high demand for pilgrimage places. He noted that registration remains open until 5 January, urging eligible applicants to complete the process within the specified timeframe.

He also clarified regulatory requirements concerning mixed-nationality families, stressing that foreign women married to Libyan citizens are required to register for Hajj through their countries of origin, in line with the approved international quota system and pilgrimage regulations.

The announcement comes as Libya prepares administrative and logistical arrangements for the 2026 pilgrimage season, amid efforts by the General Authority for Hajj and Umrah to ensure transparency, fair allocation, and orderly procedures for selecting pilgrims.

Hajj quotas are allocated annually to each country based on population size, under regulations coordinated with Saudi authorities. Libya’s allocation for 2026 reflects ongoing coordination to manage demand while maintaining compliance with international pilgrimage frameworks.
