Libya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, operating under the government appointed by the House of Representatives, has announced the formation of an emergency crisis cell to address the detention of a number of Libyan citizens inside Chad, following reports of serious violations committed against them.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, the Ministry said the crisis cell convened an urgent meeting chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, with the participation of senior officials and relevant departments.
The meeting reviewed the latest developments related to the detained Libyans and assessed immediate diplomatic and legal measures to ensure their safety and secure their release.
The Ministry confirmed that the crisis cell has begun its work without delay and remains in continuous session to monitor developments closely. It is coordinating with Libyan state institutions, diplomatic missions, and official communication channels abroad to pursue all available options for resolving the issue as quickly as possible.
According to the statement, the Ministry is in direct contact with Chadian authorities, seeking a swift and transparent solution that guarantees the unconditional release of the detained Libyan citizens and preserves their dignity.
The Ministry stressed that the incident is being treated as an individual act and does not reflect the official position of the Chadian government, nor should it affect the overall relationship between Libya and Chad.
The Ministry also emphasized that Chadian nationals residing in Libya continue to live and work in conditions that respect their rights and dignity, reaffirming Libya’s commitment to good neighborly relations and mutual respect between the two countries.
