Final preparations are underway for the official opening of a newly completed judicial complex and courthouse facility in Sirte, marking a major step in Libya’s efforts to strengthen its legal and institutional framework.

The modern complex is scheduled to begin operations on Sunday under the supervision of the Office of the Attorney General of Libya, following the completion of all renovation, maintenance, and furnishing works. The facility is expected to significantly improve the working environment for judicial staff while enhancing access to legal services for residents of Sirte and surrounding areas.

Judicial officials described the opening as a key development for the justice sector in central Libya. The inauguration ceremony is set to take place in the presence of members of the Supreme Judicial Council of Libya, along with judges, prosecutors, and senior court officials.

The new judicial complex consists of a two-storey main building that includes 56 fully equipped administrative offices, 25 of which are allocated to the Sirte Primary Court. The facility also houses two modern courtrooms, designed to accommodate legal hearings and trials, with seating capacities of 30 and 50 attendees respectively.

Additional features include organized waiting areas intended to streamline court procedures and improve the overall experience for litigants and visitors. The second floor contains administrative offices for senior judicial leadership, a conference hall, and supporting facilities for court management and coordination.

The Sirte judicial complex will serve as the main hub for several subordinate courts in the region, including the Sirte Sub-Court, Ben Jawad Sub-Court, Abu Nujaym Sub-Court, and Al-Haisha Sub-Court. This structure is expected to reduce administrative pressure on smaller courts and improve case handling efficiency.

Final inspections confirmed that the complex meets required technical and operational standards, with all works completed by a contracted company in coordination with judicial authorities.

The opening of the Sirte judicial complex reflects broader national efforts to modernize public institutions, reinforce the rule of law, and support judicial stability across Libya.
