Belgassem Khalifa Haftar, Director General of Libya’s Development and Reconstruction Fund, has signed contracts with an Italian company to implement three major development projects in the city of Benghazi.

The agreements were concluded with Kamal Al-Ghribi, Chairman of GKSD Holding, a subsidiary of Italy’s San Donato Group.

The signing took place in Benghazi during the visit of a high-level Italian delegation led by Edmondo Cirielli, who was accompanied by Gianluca Alberini, the Italian consul in Benghazi, and senior representatives of the Italian company.

According to a statement released by the Development and Reconstruction Fund, Engineer Belgassem Khalifa Haftar held an official meeting with the Italian delegation to review a package of strategic projects planned for Benghazi. The talks focused on strengthening healthcare services, improving environmental infrastructure, and enhancing the sustainability of essential public facilities in the city.

The meeting was attended by the Fund’s Director of Projects, Hatem Al-Aribi, along with the directors of Benghazi Medical Center, the National Oncology Center, and the Children’s Hospital for Pediatric Medicine and Surgery, as well as several senior engineers and technical officials.

Following the discussions, three contracts were officially signed. The first covers the operation and management of the National Oncology Center in Benghazi. The second involves the comprehensive maintenance, operation, and management of Benghazi Medical Center. The third contract provides for the construction and operation of two facilities dedicated to waste recycling and the generation of electrical energy from solid waste.

The Development and Reconstruction Fund said the agreements aim to improve the quality of healthcare services, modernize waste management systems, and support sustainable development in Benghazi. Officials stressed that the projects will help raise service efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and meet the growing needs of the city’s population.
