Libya’s Ministry of Interior has commended the extensive efforts made by its security agencies and personnel in responding to the recent severe storm that affected several cities across eastern and southwestern Libya, highlighting the effectiveness of rapid response and coordinated action in limiting damage and safeguarding lives and property.

In an official statement, the ministry praised the professionalism and dedication shown by officers, non-commissioned officers, and personnel from various security departments who remained on duty throughout the extreme weather conditions. The storm, which brought strong winds, dust, reduced visibility, and hazardous conditions, posed serious challenges to public safety and essential services in multiple regions.

The ministry emphasized that the swift deployment of security units, combined with effective coordination between regional security directorates and central departments, played a key role in managing the situation. Security forces responded promptly to emergency calls, secured critical sites, assisted citizens in affected areas, and ensured the continued flow of essential services despite the difficult conditions.

According to the statement, the recent storm once again demonstrated the readiness and discipline of Libya’s security forces, as well as their ability to operate under pressure and manage emergencies with professionalism. The ministry noted that crisis management efforts were carried out in line with approved emergency plans, contributing to the reduction of potential losses and maintaining public order.

The Interior Ministry reaffirmed that emergency preparedness and disaster response remain among its top priorities, stressing its ongoing commitment to enhancing the operational readiness of security agencies. This includes continuous training, improving coordination mechanisms, and strengthening institutional capabilities to confront natural disasters and exceptional circumstances.

The ministry also expressed special appreciation for the leadership of the Emergency and Rapid Response Committee, headed by Deputy Interior Minister Major General Faraj Egaim. It praised the committee’s close monitoring of developments on the ground, timely decision-making, and field leadership, describing these efforts as a model of effective institutional cooperation.

In concluding its statement, the Interior Ministry reiterated its determination to continue supporting and developing the capacities of its personnel, reinforcing cooperation with relevant authorities, and ensuring a high level of preparedness to respond swiftly to any future emergencies. These efforts, the ministry stressed, are essential to preserving public safety, stability, and security across Libya.
