Libya’s General Authority for Hajj and Umrah has announced that the lottery for the 1447 AH / 2026 Hajj season will be held on Saturday, February 7, starting at 10:00 a.m., at locations to be announced later.
The announcement was made on Monday by Ibrahim Al‑Saghir, Chairman of the General Authority for Hajj and Umrah, in a brief statement shared on the authority’s official Facebook page. He congratulated Libyans on the launch of the new Hajj season.
Earlier, on January 24, the authority confirmed that the interim Government of National Unity will fully cover the costs of the 2026 Hajj season. The decision aims to help citizens perform the pilgrimage and ease the financial burden associated with the ritual.
Last Wednesday, Al-Saghir revealed during a meeting with Prime Minister Abdel‑Hamid Dbaiba that 1,513,818 Libyan citizens had registered for the Hajj lottery for the 1447 AH season.
According to official figures, registrations included 864,011 men and 649,807 women. A total of 760,263 applicants registered through the web platform, while 753,555 applicants used the dedicated lottery application. The authority also recorded 86,361 cancellation requests.
The exceptionally high number of applicants reflects strong public demand for Hajj in Libya, as authorities prepare to manage one of the largest registration processes in recent years.
