The Chairman of Libya’s National Oil Corporation (NOC), Engineer Masoud Suleiman, has outlined a package of recent operational and technical achievements across several oil fields, underscoring ongoing efforts to increase production, upgrade infrastructure, and strengthen the sector’s contribution to the national economy.
In remarks posted on his official Facebook account, Suleiman said one of the most notable developments was the resumption of operations at the Mabrouk oil field, operated by Mabrouk Oil Operations Company. The field returned to service following the successful commissioning of a new early production unit.
According to Suleiman, output at Mabrouk has gradually risen to between 25,000 and 30,000 barrels per day, with plans to reach 40,000 bpd by the end of March. He noted that progress came after receiving assurances from the Government of National Unity regarding the provision of the necessary budgets.
The NOC chief also highlighted the restart of production by Arabian Gulf Oil Company (AGOCO) at the Sinawn field in the Nalut area. The field had been offline for more than three and a half years due to technical and financial challenges. Technical teams were able to resolve operational bottlenecks and complete maintenance on the pipeline linked to the Mellitah Industrial Complex, restoring the field as a key contributor to western Libya’s energy infrastructure.
In addition, Suleiman pointed to a significant technical milestone achieved by Sirte Oil and Gas Production and Manufacturing Company. The company successfully completed drilling its first horizontal well at the Lahib field using directional drilling technologies, achieving a natural flow estimated at 1,870 barrels per day.
Suleiman praised the efforts of company boards, engineers, and technical staff, saying the results reflect the capability of national personnel to manage complex reservoirs. He stressed that the latest progress represents an important step toward stabilising production and keeping pace with modern technologies in Libya’s energy sector.
