Benghazi is preparing to host a major Afro-Asian parliamentary conference, as Libyan officials step up coordination with regional partners to strengthen legislative cooperation.
The Chief of Staff of the House of Representatives, Abdullah Al-Masri Al-Fadhil, received Saud Rashid Hujailan, First Deputy Speaker of the Afro-Asian Parliamentary Council, along with Secretary-General Fayez Al-Shawabkeh, during an official visit to the parliament’s headquarters in Benghazi.
The reception was attended by Deputy Chief of Staff Rasmi Balruwin and several department directors, reflecting the importance of the visit as part of preparations for the upcoming conference.
Parliamentary Cooperation and Institutional Exchange
Following the reception, the visiting delegation toured the parliament headquarters, including the parliamentary library, where they reviewed its collection of books, documents, and modern research tools. Officials provided detailed briefings on cataloguing systems, classification methods, and digital services that allow access to legislative resources.
The delegation also visited training halls affiliated with the Office of Training and Development, where they examined technical and logistical facilities designed to support capacity-building programmes in line with modern standards.
During the visit, the guests were introduced to archival materials documenting the development of Libya’s legislative authority, offering insights into the country’s parliamentary evolution.

The visit comes as part of ongoing preparations to finalize arrangements for hosting the Afro-Asian Parliamentary Conference in Benghazi. The event is expected to enhance parliamentary cooperation between African and Asian countries and expand coordination across legislative institutions.
