Swiss police have appealed for public assistance in locating a 26-year-old Libyan doctor who went missing in the Swiss Alps near Interlaken last week.
Authorities in the Canton of Bern confirmed that Abrar Ben Ramadan has been missing since Saturday despite extensive search operations and ongoing investigations.
According to Swiss police, Ben Ramadan was reported missing in Bern after relatives and authorities lost contact with her. Search teams immediately launched large-scale operations, including field searches and investigative inquiries, but no concrete leads have emerged so far.
The Swiss Police News website reported that the Libyan doctor boarded a train from Bern to Interlaken at approximately 9:30 am on 2 May. Investigators believe she intended to undertake a hiking trip from Harder Kulm to Augstmatthorn, a popular mountain trail overlooking the Bernese Alps.
Police said she was last seen aboard a train near Spiez. Since then, no confirmed information regarding her whereabouts has been obtained, and authorities have been unable to contact her.
According to the official description released by police, Ben Ramadan speaks both Arabic and German, is approximately 170 centimetres tall and has a slim build. She was wearing a black headscarf, dark trousers and white sports shoes at the time of her disappearance. She was also carrying a black backpack.
Swiss authorities have urged anyone with information related to her movements or possible whereabouts to immediately contact police investigators.
The incident has attracted widespread attention among Libyan communities abroad, with growing concern expressed on social media over the disappearance of the young doctor in the mountainous region.
Officials continue to coordinate search efforts as rescue teams comb hiking routes and surrounding areas in difficult alpine terrain.
