Speaker of the Libyan House of Representatives Ageela Saleh met on Sunday with Stephanie Koury, Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Political Affairs in Libya, during a meeting held at the House of Representatives headquarters in Benghazi.

The discussions focused on the latest political developments in Libya and ongoing efforts to address challenges facing the country. Both sides exchanged views on current developments and reviewed a number of issues related to the political process and the broader national situation.

The meeting forms part of continuing consultations between Libyan political institutions and the United Nations as efforts continue to support dialogue, promote political stability, and advance consensus on key national issues. Discussions also touched on several files related to the Libyan political landscape and developments affecting the country’s future.

Koury has maintained regular engagement with political leaders, institutions, and stakeholders across Libya in recent months as part of the United Nations Support Mission’s efforts to facilitate dialogue and encourage progress on unresolved political matters. The UN mission has repeatedly emphasized the importance of a Libyan-led and Libyan-owned political process capable of producing sustainable solutions to the country’s long-standing political challenges.

Ageela Saleh remains one of the most influential figures in Libya’s political scene through his role as Speaker of the House of Representatives. His meetings with international representatives and foreign officials frequently focus on political developments, institutional reforms, elections, and efforts aimed at achieving greater national stability.

The Benghazi meeting comes amid continued discussions among Libyan political actors regarding pathways toward resolving institutional divisions and advancing the political process.

International efforts have increasingly focused on encouraging dialogue among key stakeholders and building consensus around arrangements that could help move the country toward a more stable political environment.
