Amidst a global COVID-19 pandemic, Libyan authorities have taken precautionary measures to prevent a local outbreak by compelling anyone returning from abroad to quarantine themselves.
Worried that such directives would not be observed by the population, President of the Libyan the House of Representatives (HoR) Ageela Saleh exhorted the government to toughen measures by punishing any citizen or official refusing to quarantine after returning from abroad.
At present, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Libya. Authorities in the east and west have adopted measures such as border closures and night curfews to stop an outbreak from happening in the country.
