On Monday, the Libyan Parliament Speaker Ageela Saleh issued a decree for three days of official mourning in Libya. This is over the death of the Commander of the Libyan National Army’s (LNA) Special Forces, Major General Wanis Bukhamada.

In his statement, Saleh said, “With great sorrow and sadness, and with hearts believing in the judgment of God and his destiny, we mourn the commander of Special Forces.” Saleh added that Bukhamada was a national hero, who confronted terrorism and extremism head on.

The Commander-in-Chief of the LNA, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, has mourned Bukhamada by saying, “The deceased had tours in the battlefields, he and his soldiers were known for their ferocity in fighting, and bravery when facing enemies.”
