The UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Anwar Gargash, has stated that Turkey had “strengthened the role of armed groups in Libya, and took advantage of the security vacuum in the country.”

During the launch of the Abu Dhabi Strategic Forum 2020, Gargash welcomed the ceasefire agreement signed between the Libyan parties in Geneva last month. He affirmed his country’s support of the United Nations’ efforts to resolve the Libyan crisis.

The minister called for strengthening efforts to achieve stability and security in the region, as well as to resolve conflicts peacefully.

He also reiterated his country’s commitment to a peaceful solution to the crisis in Yemen, pointing to “the existence of efforts for a comprehensive ceasefire there” and his country’s continued support to the Arab coalition.
