Russia Calls on Libyans to Put Their Interests Ahead of Intervening Countries

On Monday, the Russian Foreign Ministry called on the participants of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Tunis to place the interests of the Libyan people above partisan and regional considerations.

In its statement, the ministry welcomed the launch of the forum aimed at putting an end to the country’s division into warring camps.

The forum will help overcome the protracted military-political crisis. It also helps to create new effective national authorities capable of ensuring Libya’s unity, territorial integrity, and sovereignty.

The statement expressed the Ministry’s wishes for success for this step in the search for a solution to the conflict.

Notably, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) announced the 6th round of the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) in Sirte.

The current JMC meetings will last until 13 November to accelerate the implementation of the ceasefire agreement signed on October 23 in Geneva.
