On Wednesday, the General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA) condemned the murder of lawyer, Hanan Al-Barasi, who was shot yesterday in Benghazi by unidentified assailants.

During a lengthy meeting held with the Chief of General Staff and Chairman of the Supreme Security Committee of Benghazi, Abdel-Razek Al-Nazouri, and the Minister of Interior Ibrahim Bushnaf, as well as the LNA Commander-in-Chief Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, denounced the attack while offering their condolences to her family, and relatives.

Haftar also stressed the need to intensify efforts to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice. He vowed to take a hard-line stance against those who are tempted to tamper with Libya’s security.

The LNA commander indicated that all capabilities required to maintain the nation’s security and bring all criminals to justice will be placed at the disposal of the security services. He also stressed that no one is above the law or has influence to carry out any transgressions. “Anyone who commits a crime threatening the security of our homeland and its people must be arrested, and held accountable,” he said

Notably, Bushnaf directed the eastern security services to intensify their investigation and find those accused of assassinating Al-Barasi.
