The Ras Jdair Border Crossing between Tunisia and Libya resumed its activity on Saturday. It will be opened to travellers on both directions after more than 7 months of closure due to the spread of the Coronavirus.
The opening of the crossing comes after joint Tunisian-Libyan negotiation sessions. The resumption of the cross-border activity will be carried out in accordance with a specific joint health protocol set by the Tunisian and Libyan official authorities to prevent the virus’ spread.
On Saturday, Tunisia said that it is scheduled to resume flights between Tunisia and Libya next week after being halted for 8 months due to the coronavirus outbreak.
Notably, more than 1.3 million people in 191 countries and regions lost their lives due to coronavirus pandemic.
The countries most affected by the fatal pandemic are the United States, India, and Brazil.
More than 53.1 million cases have been reported worldwide, 34.2 million of which have recovered, according to figures compiled by the US-based Johns Hopkins University.
