The Head of the Russian Foundation for National Values Protection, Alexander Malkevich, sent an official letter to the Government of National Accord (GNA) regarding the fate of Russian detainees, Maxim Shogali and Samer Seifan.
In a video, Malkevich said that he had alerted GNA officials that the two workers are still being held by the Interior Ministry and added that they are being kept in appalling conditions.
“Today, a year and a half have passed since 17 May 2019, when the two Russian sociologists Maxim Shogali, and Samer Hassan Ali Seifan were kidnapped in the Libyan capital, Tripoli.” He pointed out that until now, “They are detained in places under the control of the GNA`s Ministry of Interior, in poor conditions and deteriorating health.”
Malkevich expressed his hopes that the necessary measures to release two unjustly detained scholars, will be taken. He also asked, “How can people be accused of espionage, and at other times, not being charged? GNA officials said that they were the ones who granted the two sociologists legal visas to enter Libya.”
