On Saturday, the director of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Rami Abdel-Rahman, confirmed that there are more than 7 thousand Syrian mercenaries who were transferred from Syria to Libya.
In press statements, the SOHR added that a quarter of jihadists who hold Tunisian nationality, belong to “terrorist-designated groups, noting that total salaries given to all mercenaries in Libya reach 40 million US dollars a month.”
The SOHR director questioned, “Who is paying these sums? Is it paid by the Government of National Accord (GNA) or by another country? Definitely Turkey has not paid all that money, because Turkey only takes money and does not give, as was the case with the refugee file.”
He pointed out that some European countries are still wooing Erdogan and trying to disturb the Syrian Observatory, after the latter had proved the transfer of the Turkish-backed mercenaries to Libya and Azerbaijan.
The SOHR head noted, “The European sanctions may badly affect Turkey, but we want it to stop the transfer of mercenaries.”
“However, a few days after the ceasefire agreement was signed, we were surprised that the process of returning these people to their homeland through Turkish territory stopped,” he noted.
Earlier, the SOHR revealed that Turkey had deployed more than 18,000 Syrian mercenaries, including 350 child soldiers, to Libya. It also stated that a total of 10,750 returned to Syria after completing the duration of their contracts and receiving their salary.
