Libyan Interim Government Officials Visit Moscow

On Thursday, Minister of Foreign Affairs for Libya’s eastern-based Interim Government, Abdel-Hadi Al-Hawaij held a meeting with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Mikhail Bogdanov during a visit to Moscow.

In a statement, the Libyan MoFA said that Al-Hawaij headed a high-ranking delegation for talks with senior Russian officials, to discuss the latest political developments in the North African country.

The Libyan delegation included the Director of the office of Libyan National Army’s (LNA) General Commander, Major General Khairy Al-Tamimi, who is also a member of the 5+5 Joint Military Committee (JMC).

During the meeting, the two exchanged views on the current situation in and around Libya. As well as coordinating efforts to promote stable dialogue between all influential political forces in the country, on the basis of the provisions of UN Security Council resolution 2510

The meeting also discussed “prospects for establishing Russian – Libyan cooperation at various level,” according to the statement.
