Head of Libya’s ‘Scientific Advisory Committee for Combating Coronavirus’, Khalifa Al-Bakoush stated that the electronic vaccine registration system will officially launch on Monday. This will determine the time and place for citizens to receive a vaccine, and will be implemented through mobile text messages.

In statements to the Libya Al-Ahrar television channel, Al-Bakoush confirmed that 250,000 vaccine doses would arrive in the country during the second week of March.

Al-Bakoush stated that the first distribution of vaccines will go to medical staff, those suffering from chronic illnesses, and the elderly over sixty years of age, who are estimated at more than 450,000.

In February, Al-Bakoush announced that the committee had contracted with Johnson & Johnson to supply 500,000 doses of its newly-approved single-shot vaccine.
