The General Command of the Libyan National Army (LNA) and the Chairman of the Supreme Committee to Combat Coronavirus, Abdelrazek Al-Nathouri has stressed that Libyan citizens would not be allowed to move between cities and regions except for the utmost necessity.

Spokesman for the committee Majdi Al-Urfi, confirmed on Tuesday that al-Nathouri’s instructions stressed that citizens should not roam around during the permissible hours approved by the government, which are from 7 am until 3 pm and only for food supplies and banking.

Following the outbreak of the virus in neighboring countries, Libyan governments have taken a series of precautionary measures to ensure they are prepared to face the growing international health crisis.

The Libyan government ordered the closure of markets, shops, mosques, schools, cafés, restaurants and public parks, as well as banning funerals, weddings, and public transportation. Only grocery stores, bakeries, and pharmacies will be allowed to open during curfew hours.

It is worth noting that the Libyan National Army’s (LNA) Commander, Khalifa Haftar, issued a decision on March 24th to adjust curfew hours in the territories under the control of the LNA and Interim Government. The curfew now begins at 3 p.m. and ends at 7 a.m.
