Libyan Minister of Justice, Halima Ibrahim praised the release of 78 prisoners of war, stressing that there will be further initiatives to release more prisoners in the future.

In a statement to the Libyan Arab News Agency (LANA) on Wednesday, the minister emphasized that the release of these prisoners was an “essential step” for national reconciliation.

“We will work to build a state of law. There will be no imprisonment outside the law,” Ibrahim stated, adding that “We {the Interim Government} will continue to work towards the implementation of all upcoming entitlements, leading to the peaceful handover of power,” she concluded.

The Judicial Police Authority also added that this step came “from the principle of national reconciliation and building a stable state in Libya. It is based on political agreements and a ceasefire, with special sponsorship by Minister of Justice.”
