On Tuesday, Head of Libya’s Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Mnifi, met with Nigerian President Mohamed Bazoum, and the Head of the Chadian Transitional Military Council, Mohamed Deby.

The three leaders met in the Nigerian capital Abuja, on the sidelines of the extraordinary summit of heads of state of the Lake Chad Basin Commission.

The meeting dealt with bilateral relations, and emphasised the need to intensify efforts in security cooperation and border control, strengthening counter-terrorism operations, and ending illegal immigration and organized crime, according to a press briefing by Al-Mnifi’s Media Office.

During his speech, the Libyan leader reviewed the situation in Chad, and the consequences of the killing of former Chadian President, Idris Deby on the region’s security. He pointed to the need to put an end to the violations that occur at Libya’s southern borders, and the importance of implementing the border security cooperation agreement with Chad, Sudan, and Niger.
