On Saturday, April 4, the National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in Libya reported six new cases of coronavirus, raising the total number of confirmed cases to 17, including one death.

The NCDC confirmed that after testing 20 suspected cases, 6 came out as positive. The Centre did however not disclose where these cases were discovered in Libya.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health for Libya’s Government of National Accord (GNA) also announced that a further two suspected COVID-19 cases tested negative, noting that the two cases were from the cities of Al-Bayda and Benghazi.

Dozens of people in Libya are being tested daily in an attempt to monitor and prevent the spread of COVID-19. The Libyan government has taken a series of stringent precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country, including countrywide curfews and the closure of its borders.
