On Monday, Libyan Interim Prime Minister Abdel-Hamid Dbaiba announced the arrival of 1.260 million doses of the Chinese COVID-19 vaccine, Sinopharm. He added that another shipment of 800,000 doses is set to arrive in Libya on Tuesday.

The Libyan Premier called on all citizens and residents to go to vaccination centers and take the vaccine because, “it is the only way to protect against COVID-19.”

In turn, Libyan Health Minister, Ali Al-Zanati said at the joint conference with Dbaiba that the percentage of new infections has been decreased from 68% to 24%.

He attributed the reason for the low rate of infection to “the measures taken by the government, such as imposing a partial curfew, and imposing the necessary preventive measures.”

Al-Zanati also revealed the opening of 432 vaccination centers throughout Libya, and the implementation of “exceptional campaigns” by the Ministry of Health to provide the vaccine in Libyan cities.
