The President of the Libyan House of Representatives, Aqila Saleh, called on the Attorney General to take legal measures against the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Sadiq Al-Kabir, without lifting his immunity.

Saleh affirmed in a statement that Al-Kabir was dismissed according to Parliament Decision No. 17 of 2014, and that Mohammed Al-Shukri was assigned the functions of Governor of the Central Bank in accordance with Resolution No. 3 of 2018.

Saleh stressed the need to take legal measures against Al-Kabir following his decision to close banks in southern and eastern Libya, and his decision to suspend the credit system and payment of salaries which all constitute “crimes against the national economy”, according to Saleh.
