GNA To Begin Gradually Reopening Schools In June

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Education of the Government of National Accord (GNA) announced that schools would begin reopening on June 13.

The National Center for Disease Control has approved the decision to reopen primary and secondary schools.

On Tuesday, a virtual platform for distance learning was launched, maintaining the COVID-19 measures in place. This platform is part of the government’s efforts to ensure the continuation of schooling, amidst the shutdown of educational establishments.

In mid-March, the Ministry announced the closure of schools throughout the country. It ordered the use of electronic platforms to broadcast lessons in a bid to help curb the COVID-19 outbreak.

This comes at a time where the UN has voiced its concerns on the negative effects the war in Tripoli could have on measures to stem the spread of the virus.
