Egypt’s President, Abdel-Fatah Al-Sisi, confirmed that the stability of Libya was “necessary for Egypt’s national security”, pointing out that Egypt “has not, and will not compromise with extremist groups, and those who support them”.

During the meeting of the African Contact Group discussing the situation in Libya, Al-Sisi stated that Egypt’s position on Libya remained consistent, in that a political solution must be reached, that would protect Libya’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity. This must be done with the full support, and will of the Libyan people.

The Egyptian President also expressed his complete rejection of foreign interference in Libya’s internal affairs, during the meeting.
