Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed the situation in Libya with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu. The two parties agreed to back calls for an immediate ceasefire in Libya.
According to a statement by Russia’s Foreign Ministry, both Ministers supported the resumption of the United Nations peace process in Libya based on the outcomes of the Berlin Conference.
On Monday, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a phone call with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The two leaders expressed their deep concerns over the recent escalation of violence in the country, and called for a peaceful solution to the conflict.
