President of the Arab Parliament Mishaal bin Fahm Al-Salami called on international organizations to intervene in Libya to achieve an immediate ceasefire.

On Friday, Al-Salami sent letters to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the UN Security Council. He demanded that the Security Council commit all warring parties in Libya to an immediate ceasefire to protect civilians and create conditions for the resumption of the UN sponsored political process in the country.

The President of the Arab Parliament said that Libya is living through a very difficult humanitarian situation in light of the spread of the Coronavirus, the state of siege imposed on some Libyan cities, and the continuation of military operations in the country.

Al-Salami stressed the need to stop the bloodshed, especially in these days while Muslims in all countries of the world are preparing to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr.

The President of the Arab Parliament confirmed that a political solution is the best way to tackle the crisis in Libya, calling on the UN to stop foreign interference in Libyan affairs that feed the parties to the conflict and to prevent the transfer of arms and foreign fighters in compliance with relevant Security Council resolutions.
