In a phone call on Friday, Egyptian President Abdel-Fatah Al-Sisi discussed recent developments in Libya with his Cypriot counterpart, Nicos Anastasiades. The conversation also addressed bilateral relations between the two countries and issues of mutual concern.

The two Presidents agreed on intensifying coordination regarding the Libyan crisis by supporting international efforts, as well as advocating for the enforcement of the conclusions reached during the Berlin Conference. Both parties rejected any external interference in Libyan affairs.

The Cypriot President praised energy security within the framework of the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF), as well as Egypt’s political weight in maintaining stability in the region.

The European Union reiterated its appreciation for Egypt’s efforts to achieve stability and its fight against terrorism. It also praised its successful experience in the fight against illegal migration.
