On Thursday, the General Director of the Libyan Export Promotion Center (LEPC), Mohammed Al-Deeb, took part in the inaugural proceedings of the Korea Import Fair 2023 in South Korea.
Al-Deeb, during his keynote address, highlighted the strategic importance of such trade exhibitions as avenues for showcasing Libyan products on a global platform. This participation, according to Al-Deeb, plays a substantial role in the diversification of Libya’s economic portfolio and the augmentation of its national income streams.
The Libyan Ministry of Economy’s press office informed that the Fair will run from June 29th until July 1st, 2023, and includes numerous prominent Libyan corporations registered on the exporters’ record.
Among these are AlSahl Group Holding, Wahiba Holding Group, Al-Mishka Agricultural and Animal Production Company, Celine Food Industries Company, Amtar Al-Ghaym for Olive Oil, and the Libyan Fish Products Company.
The opening of the fair was graced by several dignitaries, including the Director of the Economic and Trade Minister’s Office, the Director of Market Development and Promotion, and the Director of Media and Public Relations at the Export Development Centre.
In an interesting development, the South Korean Minister of Economy toured the Libyan pavilion at the fair, familiarising himself with the products of the participating Libyan firms.
The Minister assured his Ministry’s full support in simplifying regulations and procedures for Libyan firms to penetrate the South Korean market, reiterating Korea’s commitment to bolstering commercial relations with Libya’s private sector.
Libya is a country located in North Africa, known for its vast desert landscapes and rich oil reserves. Its economy is heavily dependent on the oil sector, which accounts for a significant proportion of GDP and government revenue.
The Korea Import Fair is an important international trade event that enables businesses to showcase their products to potential Korean buyers and other international stakeholders. It offers a platform for businesses to establish new connections, penetrate new markets, and promote their brands on a global scale.
Trade relations between Libya and South Korea have been growing steadily over the years. The participation of Libyan companies in the Korea Import Fair 2023 demonstrates the continuing commitment to expand and strengthen these bilateral trade relations.
