Ibrahim Dabbashi, Libya’s former ambassador to the UN Security Council, has claimed that UN envoy Abdoulaye Bathily resigned after securing sufficient funds in exchange for stalling the political process in Libya. Dabbashi expressed his views on his Facebook page, stating, “Bathily resigns after achieving what his predecessors could not,” and added, “His goal was money, and he received enough of it in exchange for freezing the political path.”

Dabbashi further elaborated that the United States, aware of Bathily’s impending resignation in preparation for elections in his home country, hastened to appoint a new figure to ensure that the key to resolving the Libyan situation remained in its hands. He suggested that the U.S. would only use this key if it ensured its interests through a reliable candidate for the new government.

This assertion introduces a controversial perspective on the dynamics of international involvement in Libya’s ongoing political challenges.
