Member of the Supreme Council of the Sheikhs, Sheikh Mansour Al-Manfi, confirmed that Libya’s tribes supported the House of Representatives’ (HoR) statement calling on Egypt to intervene militarily to defend the Libyan people.

In an interview with ‘Sky News’, Al-Manfi said that Libya’s resources were being used by the Government of National Accord (GNA) to bring mercenaries and weapons to kill the Libyan people. He called on citizens to unite behind the Libyan National Army (LNA) and the HoR to reject Turkish intervention in the country.

He stressed that the Libyan tribes were against Turkey’s interference and were willing to confront it, claiming that Ankara wants to control Libyan oil. The HoR announced that it welcomed the statement made by Egyptian President Abdel Fatah El-Sisi calling for concerted efforts between Libya and Egypt to ensure the defeat of Turkey and the preservation of common national security.

The Parliament said in a statement: “The Libyan Parliament, the only legitimate representative elected by the Libyan people that represents its free will, confirms its welcome of the speech of the Egyptian President, Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi in the presence of representatives of the Libyan tribes”.

“We are calling for concerted efforts between Libya and Egypt to ensure the defeat of the invading occupier and to preserve our common national security, as well as achieve security and stability in our country and the region. We call on the Egyptian armed forces to intervene should they see an imminent threat to the security of our two countries.” the statement added.
