French MP: “Turkey Pouring Oil On Fire In Libya”

“Turkey is pouring oil on the fire in Libya,” French Senator Gilbert Roger said, noting that the presence of extremist groups in western Libya and on the border with Mali further complicates the conflict.

In his statements to Al Arabiya, Roger added that “the European Union adheres to the agreements reached at the Berlin Conference on solving the crisis in Libya”.

Sonia Krimi, a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the French Parliament, added that “Europe is linked existentially with the countries of the southern Mediterranean and they have a unit of shared destiny, and they relate to each other’s sovereignty. Libya’s security is a fundamental thing, and it affects the security of France, Italy, Spain, and the rest of Europe, as well as the security of Egypt and Tunisia”, she said.

The French official claimed that Tunisia has “suffered for many years from instability in Libya”, adding that these issues “do not exist for America, which is very far from the eastern Mediterranean region”.

The situation in Libya is escalating, with a military buildup near Sirte and Al-Jufra. The Egyptian Parliament has approved measures to intervene in Libya if these cities are attacked and its national security is threatened.
